Nearly 4 years ago, after an attempted suicide, I wrote
these words in hope that I one day they would become true. Unfortunately,
not knowing that codependency was the cause of my misery, my anger, my
heartache, and my despair, I had not made much progress on becoming the
person I wanted to be.
Today, and 4 years later, I am grateful for my Higher Power, who I know as
God. Today, I’m grateful for discovering CoDA, the 12 Steps, and the 12
Promises. Today, I don't just ‘dare to believe', I actually believe.
I Dare to Believe
I dare to believe that I am loved and cared for.
I dare to believe that I have a purpose on this earth.
I dare to believe I am valuable and valuable to others.
I dare to believe that I am wonderful, amazing, beautiful and phenomenal.
I dare to believe that I can overcome any challenge or crisis.
I dare to believe that I can respond to stressors calmly and assertively.
I dare to believe that the best is yet to come for me.
I dare to believe that my light shines through even in the darkest times.
I dare to believe my life is filled with joy even when I do not feel it.
I dare to believe that I will achieve my goals.
I dare to believe in a peace that surpasses all understanding.
I dare to believe I am a good parent regardless of the choices my child
makes or the consequences she may suffer.
I dare to believe I am a success.
I dare to believe in me, and when I cannot believe in myself, I will allow
others to believe in me until I can.
I dare to believe the world is a better place with me in it.
I dare to believe that
I can…
I am…
I will…
I do…
