Where Is God and Where Does He or She Live?

Living in the black and white areas of life has often been easier for me than living without rigidity, stress and strains. Following the rules and controlling life seems logical even necessary to survive. I hide within the rules and should of life not risking disapointment, fury, resentment and antagonism. When I color within the lines, I can miss the essence of life.  Almost never is life cut and dry and not always so easy as just following the rules. I constantly face life's paradigms. For me God is one of those "rules", concepts that doesn’t fit by coloring within lines.  I’ve found God or encountered Him or She in the gray areas of life, where things are not so clear or polished. Often God is in the margins, in the shadows of colors and murky areas of life and relationships.

Carl Jung was asked if he believed in God. He explained he knew that God existed beyond any need to believe.  That God’s existence did not require belief because God was a reality. This was based on his knowledge and work of man’s spiritual experiences beyond the limits of time and space. It’s this idea that is the spiritual basis of the 12 Steps.

God is a reality I do not need to believe in.  Like life itself, is reality and not rules. I believe that God, like life, is the whole spectrum of colors, taste, touch, sounds and emotions that exist inside and outside each of us, outside the lines, beyond black and white.
